  • Raheem Sterling showed glimpses of his best form with a goal and two assists against Luton Town
  • The Chelsea winger made a tweak in his lifestyle in the summer, which has proven to be effective
  • He recently revealed his desire to be “obsessed with football again”

Raheem Sterling have fans a reminder of why he can be a powerhouse at Chelsea with a man of the match performance against Luton Town on Friday, August 25.

Chelsea ran out comfortable 3-0 winners on the day, with Sterling involved in all the goals with two assists and a strike of his own to help Mauricio Pochettino’s side kick start their campaign.

It is kind to note that Sterling had shown glimpses of what he could offer from as early as the first game week as he was consistently a menace for the Liverpool defence, as reported on Sky Sports.

The £47.5m signing from Manchester City was interviewed after his heroics against Premier League newcomers Luton, and he admitted his desire to get back to his best form.

“I want to get back to being obsessed with football. Just football 24/7 and nothing else and focus on top performances and goals and assists” the 28-year old said.
“It was a bit of frustration from last season from myself personally because I felt like I was always coming with my back to goal. A bit deep and I wasn't giving myself enough chances to get into the box.”

Credit also has to go to Sterling for integrating seamlessly in a new-look Chelsea attack under Pochettino, as he was integral in setting up striker Nicolas Jackson for the Senegal international’s first goal.

“Change in diet”

Prior to the start of the season, Sterling had a prelude of better things to come as he hinted he would be back stronger for the new campaign, thanks to a slight tweak in his diet.

"At the end of last season, I changed a bit of my diet and went to do something a bit different to what I have done before," he said. "I am eating a little bit less.” He said as quoted on BBC.
"Pre-season is a good time to get the body right and I am in a great place."

His dietary changes has minimized Sterling’s proneness to hamstring injuries, and he also appears to be far swifter on the flanks.

Sterling mocked by school kids

Sports Brief also reported on how Raheem Sterling was mocked by pupils over his running style in a hilarious Tiktok video.

The Chelsea ace visited a school in England to show off a new set of school shoes he had apparently designed and while there, he decided to show off what he did best - football.

He did a close dribble drill and asked the children to replicate what he did but in a hilarious act of mockery, the pupils decided to imitate Sterling’s running style.
